Gnosis is an instrumental metal band which genre is close to progressive metal, djent or groove metal.
Gnosis was born in 2012 in Jaén. Their members are Edu Martínez (drums), Fermín Romero (guitar), Víctor Calet (guitar) and Juan Ramón Martínez (bass).
Their music is not attached to a simple interpretation for they use the instrumental factor to offer songs to raise sujbective emotions. The themes that influence them are topics like dystopia, society or philosophy.
In 2016 the idea of 'Quis custodiet ipsos custodes' came up, a conceptual work based on the approach included in 'Republic' by Plato. The first part of this work, 'Quis custodiet' is released in 2016 through different social networks and digital distribution platforms with a very good acceptance by the public.
After a break of 4 years, 'Ipsos custodes' is released in 2020, again with a great acceptance by the public.
Quis custodiet is the first part of an instrumental work whose theme explores the footprint of man as he passes through a dystopian future world where the collective consciousness has been controlled by an unknown elite.
It is a self-produced work that was recorded between December 2015 and January 2016. The mixing and mastering work was carried out by Marcos Cabrera and the art is a work by the Jaen illustrator David Montoro.
Ipsos custodes is the second part of the work that began with 'Quis custodiet'. This work explores the awakening of the conscience of an individual who lives in isolation in a dystopian and fictional society inspired by the reality of our days.
It is a self-produced work, recorded between December 2019 and February 2020. The mixing and mastering work was done at Babylon Studios by musician and producer Tomáš Raclavský (Modern Day Babylon). The art is part of the same work done with 'Quis custodiet' by the Jaen illustrator David Montoro, since it is a single piece separated into two parts, one for each part.
